M-O-U-S-E

I met Minnie Mouse last week.

Minnie even blew me a kiss as I was taking her picture.

I also learned last week that there are people out there who think that Minnie Mouse is not a good role model for little girls as she doesn't do anything but follow Mickey around.

A very polite well-dressed woman explained this to me in the character line-up at Epcot. She also told me that she wouldn't let her little girls have their picture taken with Minnie Mouse until Minnie got a job.

Minnie. got. a. job.

I watched this lady take her daughters to have their pictures taken with Mickey, Pluto, Goofy and Donald. These characters were supposedly okay for these little girls to have their picture taken with because they are male. I guess a lack of employment isn't an issue with this women if you're a male dog or duck.

I am seriously at a loss here.

Is Minnie Mouse supposed to be a role model for children? Like uh, Tiger Woods was?

Tiger Woods – the man who was responsible for me having to explain to my nine year old what an affair was?

Sigh.

Given the choices, I'll take Minnie.

At least she's got great shoes and as far as I can remember she's a one mouse gal too.

It works for me.

  1. I hope you had a great time! As far as Minnie is concerned, doesn’t she have a job? Isn’t the promotion of Disney enough of a job? How is what Mickey does more of a job than what Minnie does (although Mickey did drive a tugboat in Disney’s first cartoon). I am usually pretty particular about that type of thing, but I don’t object to Minnie. One of my daughters was even Minnie for Halloween one year. She liked the polka dot dress.

  2. Some people are just plain crazy. As is any little girl is going to say “When I grow up I want to be just like Minne Mouse.” Hey, she must be doing something right, she has her own house. Hope the vacation was awesome.
