Take my breath away

'Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.'

You've probably all heard/read this before. I have no idea where it's from but it is a great saying.

I'm trying to slow down this week to recognize all the things around me that would take my breath away if I was to just take the time to notice them.

But as I'm writing this I can hear my daughters upstairs bickering over a shower towel. Yes, a towel.

And it has just occurred to me that the moment that might take my breath away right now would be them uh, sleeping.

Quiet and sleeping.

  1. I’m trying to do this as well. I wish you luck as I have found it is a most difficult thing to do when a parent. I don’t know that I have had my breath taken away by beauty or wonder yet but I have gasped at the stupid things my kids and I manage to do when having a good time. Enjoy!

  2. My girlies are not arguing. Of course, that probably has more to do with it almost being midnight than any superior ability to compromise on their part. Sleeping seems to be one activity that leads to everyone just getting along around here.
