Me

Opps, I did it again.

It's the weekend and we're running around again and I only have myself to blame.

But tell me, all you under-scheduled Moms, how do you do it?

How does one let their kids experience different things, find what they like and still not run around all the time?

If my children want to try something and I don't let them say, play basketball, hockey, soccer, piano, do synchronized swimming, try guitar or singing isn't that a bad thing?

Okay, all of these things are between all three of my kids I'm just over-scheduled, not insane.

But, shouldn't I be letting them try things?

It's all about balance I know, but for me the teeter-totter never seems to balance for some reason.

Shoot.

I'd post more but I'm late for a piano recital.

Have a restful weekend. One of us should.

  1. I will only let my kids each do one thing at a time. Occasionally they overlap and then life gets really crazy!! Try to find some down time this weekend 🙂

  2. As a single mother of four extremely active kids, I decided early that I had to limit their experiences. So I made a rule, each child was only allowed to do two non-school related activities at a time and one must be scouts.
For instance if they wanted to do baseball no problem but they couldn’t also do soccer.. of course they did plenty of school related extra-curricular activities and those often just required me to pick them up.
Eventually life evened out and they all had scouts on one night and swimming on the others.. seems I got lucky and they all chose the same sport.. It was an expensive one but the price of having all of my kids in the same place at the same time, four nights a week and many weekends was well priceless..
Now that they are teenagers(and above) I attend what I can and enjoy it while I am able.
