Being Female

Squishing.

I had a fun day today.

I had a mammogram done.

I wasn't worried about anything, it was just time that I had my uh, parts checked out.

I don't know how they do it where you are, but here a mammogram involves a lot of painful squeezing of parts that aren't usually handled roughly.

Sigh.

I can't help but think that if it was men having this done, the whole system would have been changed years ago.

I'm just sayin'.

  1. My appointment is next Friday, I’ve already set a reminder on my calendar to take a tylenol 3 about an hour before I go. It makes all the difference in the world!

  2. I am not looking forward to the first time I have to get one. From what I have heard I (35 yrs old) might be under the age requirements but… last fall during breast cancer awareness month, a lot of people were recommending that it be done sooner. And my Grandmother had breast cancer. I will have to remember to ask my doctor the next time I have a checkup.

  3. Sounds like that’s the same way its done in these here parts! I had mine a couple of years earlier…as I was having some soreness which afterwards I realized it was from a little elbow on a little person whenever she tried to get up from the sofa next to me… sigh. Squished for nothing in the end (though I now have my baseline).
