I’m taking back my house

Toys can reproduce.

Yep, amazing I know, but it's true.

I have boxes and boxes of bright plastic colorful things all packed up, ready to be delivered to the local charity drop-off center tomorrow.

I know I couldn't have possibly bought my kids all this stuff over the years.

I mean I love to shop and I actually do find a lot of toys cute, but surely I'm not responsible for the huge amount of crap toys that were taking over my house.

Nope, not me.

Toys reproduce, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Now if you'll excuse me I have a shoe closet to sort through. Do you think shoes can reproduce too? This might be exciting.

I'll get back to you.

  1. Oh, toys, shoes, trash, graded homework, and hair accessories are all gettin’ it on like rabbits at my house too. Whoever invents birth control for these items will be every mom’s HERO!

  2. Oh they sooooo reproduce!!! I swear in the week or so that my kids toys were boxed up for the move they made a few new boxes of toys — what else is there to do in a dark place with no lights 🙂

  3. Your post and the above comment about socks explains so much. Unfortunately, if shoes reproduce, mine are on serious birth control. I wouldn’t object to the reproduction of shoes.

  4. We have an entire ROOM full of toys (we falsely believed if we kept them contained they wouldn’t take over the house). We realized today that we hadn’t purchased ONE of those toys–they were all gifts. I guess we’re lucky??

  5. LOL – they certainly do reproduce. 16 mos ago when we moved into this house I had 2 boxes of toys. I just packed up 2 boxes of infant toys (rattles etc) and I know that the rest of the toys would probably fill at least 6 boxes. Thankfully most of the toys were gifts. I find that the kiddos enjoy playing pretend with me more than actually playing with toys.

  6. Toys definitely reproduce. As do crayons and markers with no lids. I think black shoes probably do as well. I cannot possibly own as many pairs of black shoes as I have found in my closet.
