Shopping is bad.

It’s Sunday night and it’s overcast and rainy. This should not be allowed in the summer, mind you my garden seems very happy about it.

I spent the weekend purging a bit. We’ve now got a pile of toys to give to charity and Dave’s office is empty of all the kid’s stuff. His office had become a dumping ground for everything that didn’t have a place and it was becoming quite a mess. I have now fixed that.

It all comes down to the fact that we own too much stuff. We are consumers and it’s just not necessary. We really don’t need all this junk and I’m determined to cut down on the amount of things we buy.

Can some one please remind me of this around Christmas time?

Actually, I’ll probably need the reminder sooner – summer shoes are on sale EVERYWHERE. I swear, shoe sales just call to me.

Sigh.

  1. Every time I come here you mirror my thoughts exactly. We must be on the same wave-length. I, too, spent a good amount of time sorting and collecting and donating this weekend. Mind you, the stuff given away was quickly replaced with old toys and games that my cousin brought over for my kids…sigh…But, we can think of it as our own little freecycle, right?!
