I planted roses. Time to stop and smell them.

I’m dirty. Literally.

I’ve spent the last three days in my garden.

You’d think that would be nice, wouldn’t you?

Well, it was nice in April, May, June and the first half of July. Now? I’m getting tired of it.

We have a great yard here in our little town. It’s large, it’s ‘mature’ and boy is it over grown. I keep filling up the recyclable brush bags and the nice recycling guys keep showing up on Friday to take them away. But every week I have dozens more. I’m getting sort of tired of this too.

Therefore I’ve decided tonight that it’s time to stop cutting back bushes and pulling up weeds. Instead I’m going to find a lawn chair, grab a drink and sit down and enjoy what I’ve accomplished. This will be hard for me, the weeds just keep on popping up.

But if you’ll excuse me, I think I have a lawn chair out in the garage in a moving box somewhere. If I start looking for it now I just might find it before the snow flies.

Hmmm. Moving boxes in garage vs. gardening.

I think my drink had better be alcoholic.

  1. That’s where I’m at right now. Sure there are weeds everywhere, but if you pay just a little bit more attention to the daisies and hydrangeas, you don’t even see them. There will be plenty of time to weed when it’s not quite so nice out. I hope.

  2. I can’t help but wish you were my neighbor. I’d bring martini’s over right about NOW. My garden is begging to be weeded to.
OH. WELL. Sucks to be you, garden.
    See you at drink-thirty.
