The glass is not half anything.

If you had a dirty drinking glass in your hand and the dishwasher was half full of dirty dishes would you:

a) open the dishwasher and place the glass inside.

or

b) put the dirty glass on the counter directly above the dishwasher and walk away.

Guess which one my family does?

So, if TiredMama has had ENOUGH of taking the dirty drinking glasses off the counter and placing them in the dishwasher for every freakin’ member of her family, should she:

a) pour herself a glass of wine and leave the kitchen.

or

b) pour herself a glass of wine and leave the house.

Yep, I like both of the options too. Decisions, decisions.

  1. Ugh! Don’t you hate that?! Big E got up from the table at lunch today and pointed to his place and his brother’s and says, “Hey mom, you’re lucky. You only have 2 places to clean up today!”
That’s the kind of warped thinking that ends with dirty glasses on the counter.

  2. Yup – pretty frustrating. I’ve been waging a losing battle trying to make sure that at least there are only 8, rather than, say, a thousand, dirty glasses on the counter at the end of the day. I’ve color-coded the kids, and they are only allowed to drink out of their color cup. They still cheat, though.

  3. My hubby is about half-empty on this one. Sometimes he sees there is a dishwasher in front of him. Other times, the plate/fork/glass don’t even make their way off the table. I think you should have the wine on the deck (except there is snow on mine). That way you leave the house, leave the room, but no one calls DCFS. Just a thought.

  4. I must confess that I am VERY guilty of option B. That being said, it makes me absolutely insane when my hubby does it! I also agree with threecsmom…if I can get away with it, I drink straight out of the bottle. Or box…it all depends on the wine!

  5. A woman’s work is never done! I like both of your options, as long as wine is involved I feel you can’t go wrong.
Tagged you for a MeMe. If don’t do it, no big deal, but I had writer’s block yesterday so it came in handy!

  6. My husband does that with his half empty coffee cups. And invariably they get knocked over making an even bigger mess. I don’t ever understand why it takes so much more effort to open the dishwasher, dump the coffee and set it in there than it does to just set it on the counter and clean up the spilled coffee later.
