We’re having some new gates put up on either side of our house. It’s not a complicated job, we have a pool and since my kids are now decent swimmers I want to take down the fence around the pool and open up the backyard a bit. In order to do this I need to fence in the backyard which means adding self closing gates to either side of the house.
The twelve year old sales guy told me that the installers would be here to put in the gates last Friday, 1 pm at the very latest they’d be here, I was told.
At 3 pm I was still waiting. They called about 4 pm to say that they wouldn’t be able to make it that day. No kidding, I thought.
So then the ‘sales guy’ promises me that the installers would be here first thing on Tuesday morning. Fine, I said but now I’m a little miffed as we had planned to take down the fence around the pool on Sunday which now we can’t do, and I had wasted an afternoon hanging around the house waiting for the installers so I could show them where the gates were to go. I was not my usual warm and friendly self during the conversation with the sales guy.
On Tuesday the installers showed up for a few hours, dug a few holes and then left to do another job. The note in my mailbox said that they would be back first thing this morning. It is now 11:17 am and they’re not here.
I guess I’ll have to call and be even less warm and friendly. I’m now thinking that if we’re lucky we’ll have the fence around the pool down in time for hockey season.
